Butterfly Valve Liner Manufacturer — Rubber Seats & Sleeves for All Valve Types
A butterfly valve liner is one of those parts that nobody thinks about — until it fails. A cracked seat, a swollen liner, a hardened seal that will not close properly — and suddenly you have a leak, a production hold, or a contamination risk. At Mangla Rubber Technologies, we have been manufacturing rubber liners for butterfly valves for over four decades, and we understand exactly what makes the difference between a liner that lasts three months and one that lasts three years.
We manufacture rubber seats, sleeves, and liners for butterfly valves of virtually every make and model — from 25 mm to 1200 mm inner diameter. Whether you need a drop-in replacement for an existing valve or a custom-moulded liner for a new OEM design, our in-house compounding and tooling capabilities mean we can deliver exactly what your application demands. We are approved vendors to several global valve OEMs, and our liners are installed in water treatment plants, chemical processing facilities, sugar mills, dairy plants, and marine systems across India and over 20 countries worldwide.
Why the Right Butterfly Valve Liner Compound Matters
The rubber compound in a butterfly valve liner does far more than just create a seal. It has to resist the media flowing through the pipeline — whether that is raw water, caustic soda, chlorinated fluids, or hot sugar syrup. It has to handle the temperature range of the process. It needs enough resilience to maintain sealing pressure over thousands of open-close cycles without taking a permanent set. And in food or pharma applications, it has to meet regulatory compliance for direct media contact.
This is why we do not use generic rubber compounds. Every butterfly valve liner we produce is made from application-specific formulations developed in our own compounding lab. The result is measurably longer service life, lower torque values, and fewer unplanned replacements — which is what plant engineers actually care about.
Industrial Butterfly Valve Liners
Our industrial-grade butterfly valve liners are the workhorses of our product range. These black-compound liners are engineered for demanding process environments where chemical resistance, temperature tolerance, and mechanical durability are non-negotiable. Available materials include:
EPDM — The most widely used butterfly valve liner material. Excellent resistance to hot water, steam, dilute acids, alkalis, and ozone. Our EPDM compounds are specifically formulated for low compression set, which means the liner maintains its sealing force over years of cycling. Ideal for water treatment, HVAC, and general chemical service.
Nitrile (Buna-N) — The right choice when your process involves oils, fuels, hydrocarbons, or petroleum-based fluids. Our nitrile butterfly valve liners offer a balance of oil resistance and mechanical strength that makes them a standard in petrochemical and fuel handling applications.
Neoprene (CR) — Offers good all-round resistance to moderate chemicals, weathering, and ozone. A reliable choice for outdoor installations and marine environments where the liner faces both seawater and atmospheric exposure.
HNBR — When you need the oil resistance of nitrile but at higher temperatures, HNBR is the answer. Our hydrogenated nitrile liners handle continuous service up to 150°C in oil and fuel environments — well beyond what standard Buna-N can manage.
FKM (Viton®) — For the most aggressive chemical and high-temperature applications. Our FKM butterfly valve liners resist concentrated acids, solvents, and fuels at temperatures up to 200°C. Specified in chemical processing, pharmaceutical, and semiconductor facilities where nothing else holds up.
Food-Grade & FDA-Compliant Butterfly Valve Liners
In dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical, and food processing plants, the butterfly valve liner is in direct contact with the product flowing through the line. That makes material compliance critical — not optional. Our white-compound food-grade liners are manufactured from elastomers that meet US FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and EU Regulation 1935/2004 requirements for food contact. Available in:
Silicone — The preferred choice for high-purity and high-temperature food and pharma applications. Our food-grade silicone liners offer exceptional temperature range (-60°C to +200°C), zero taste or odour transfer, and excellent resistance to repeated steam sterilisation cycles (SIP/CIP). Widely used in dairy processing, brewing, and pharmaceutical fluid handling.
EPDM (FDA grade) — Combines the hot water and steam resistance of standard EPDM with full food-contact compliance. Our FDA-grade EPDM butterfly valve liners are the cost-effective choice for water, juice, and non-oily food processing lines.
Nitrile (FDA grade) — For food processing lines that also handle fats, oils, or oil-based flavourings. Our FDA-compliant nitrile liners provide the oil resistance that EPDM and silicone cannot, while maintaining food safety standards.
HNBR (FDA grade) — When the application demands both oil resistance and higher temperature capability in a food-safe compound, our FDA-grade HNBR liners deliver.
FKM / Viton® (FDA grade) — For the most demanding food and pharma processes involving aggressive cleaning chemicals, high temperatures, and solvent-based media. Our food-grade FKM liners are specified in pharmaceutical manufacturing and specialty chemical food processing.
Cartridge-Type Aluminium-Bonded Butterfly Valve Liners
For valves that use a cartridge-style seat — where the rubber liner is permanently bonded to an aluminium or metal backing ring — we manufacture aluminium-bonded butterfly valve liners that are direct replacements for Crane, Keystone, and other cartridge-type valve designs. These liners are precision-moulded and vulcanised to the metal insert in a single operation, ensuring a bond that will not delaminate under cycling or thermal stress.
Our cartridge-type liners are available in all standard sizes and in the full range of elastomer compounds — EPDM, silicone, nitrile (Buna-N), HNBR, and FKM (Viton®) — in both industrial and FDA-compliant grades. If you are currently sourcing Crane-equivalent cartridge liners from overseas and dealing with long lead times and high costs, we offer a domestically manufactured alternative with matched fit, finish, and performance.
Valve Refurbishment Services
Beyond new liners, we also offer complete butterfly valve refurbishment services. If you have worn valves sitting in your stores, send them to us. We strip the old liner, inspect the valve body and disc for wear or corrosion, manufacture a new liner to the exact OEM specification, and return a fully reconditioned valve assembly ready for installation. This is particularly popular with water utilities, sugar factories, and marine operators who maintain large valve inventories and want to extend asset life rather than purchase new valves.
Why Plant Engineers Trust Mangla Rubber for Butterfly Valve Liners
We hear this from customers regularly: they tried cheaper butterfly valve liners from general rubber suppliers, and the liners failed within months — either the compound was wrong for the media, the dimensions were slightly off, or the rubber hardened prematurely. Here is what is different when you work with a specialist:
Application-specific compounding — We do not use off-the-shelf rubber sheets. Every butterfly valve liner compound is formulated for the specific media, temperature, and cycling conditions of your application. That is why our liners consistently outlast generic alternatives.
Precision tooling and moulding — Dimensional accuracy is critical for a butterfly valve liner. Even half a millimetre deviation can cause excessive torque, poor sealing, or premature wear. Our moulds are CNC-machined to tight tolerances, and every liner is dimensionally inspected before dispatch.
Low operational torque — A well-designed liner should allow the disc to rotate smoothly without excessive actuator force. Our compound formulations and surface finish are optimised to minimise friction while maintaining full bubble-tight sealing at rated pressure.
Complete size range — From 25 mm DN to 1200 mm DN, wafer type and lug type, concentric and double-offset designs. If a butterfly valve exists, we can line it.
Fast turnaround — With over 500 existing mould sets in our tool room and in-house tooling capability for new sizes, we deliver standard sizes within days and custom liners within 2–3 weeks.
Industries We Serve
Our butterfly valve liners are at work in some of the most demanding process environments across India and globally. Water and wastewater treatment plants rely on our EPDM liners for long service life in chlorinated and raw water systems. Sugar mills and distilleries use our liners in juice, syrup, and molasses handling where abrasive media and high temperatures test every component. Chemical and petrochemical facilities specify our FKM and HNBR liners for aggressive solvent and acid services. Dairy and food processing plants trust our FDA-grade silicone and EPDM liners for hygienic valve applications. And marine and shipboard systems depend on our neoprene and EPDM liners for seawater, ballast, and bilge service.
